Italian classes in NYC

Looking for recommendations for a class in Italian in NYC.

I work in Manhattan and I'd to start learning to read/speak Italian (from the beginner level). I tend to do better when I'm working in a structured environment (so a class instead of self-learning), and I've found several places offering classes but have no idea what the quality is like.

Can you recommend a good class that meets weekday evenings/nights?

CUNY has quite a few language courses offered in the evening and open to non-matriculated students. I know that Hunter offers Italian, but it's worth checking the other schools as well.

I took classes at Parliamo Italiano and loved it. Buona fortuna!

Not a first-hand recommendation exactly, but check out the Italian Cultural Institute. They're the Italian government's overseas language and cultural arm, and in addition to teaching interesting language courses of their own, they also maintain a listing of Italian language courses in their area of jurisdiction. Here's the New York branch's language course search engine.

I have no experience with the Italian Cultural Institute itself, but I've been around other "Government-run International linguo-cultural promotion organizations" as Wikipedia calls them. The nice thing about these organizations (British Council, Alliance Française, Goethe-Institut, etc.) is that not only do you have opportunity for language learning but they often have fun events that keep you plugged in with a circle of people who love their country and culture and are happy to share it with you. Some of my best memories were watching the World Cup (on German TV!) at the beer garden of a Goethe-Institut, and going to a Eurovision party at the British Council.
