Contracts with Death, German style?

Help me find this relatively recent German film about an old man who tricks his way out of a contract with Death.

Other bits: Death has a horse that he talks to but later trades in the horse for a steam-driven tractor car thing, much to the horse's disapproval.

The old man has a deal where he can die when he wants to; Death drops by regularly to try to convince him now is a good time. It's an old story, apparently, but a film was made about it fairly recently.

It's in German and quite likely never made it to the U.S.

Thanks!

Sounds a lot like The Seventh Seal. It is, however, Swedish, there's no tractor, and it's not recent, but it's possible someone attempted a remake in the last few years. You should watch The Seventh Seal anyway, though, just because it's great.

Best answer: Brandner Kaspar, and it's awesome.
