Nothing sappy for this baby boy!

What upbeat song would be an appropriate soundtrack for a 30-second time lapse video clip of my wife's baby belly growing over the span of her pregnancy? (intro to the baby's first year video)

Someone suggested the Gimme Gimme's cover of "Isn't She Lovely" for the baby belly part of the video ... it's absolutely perfect, but it's about a girl and we had a boy :/

The video is a ~30-second clip of my wife's belly morphing/growing over the span of the pregnancy.

Bonus points for other songs we can use throughout the video. We don't want anything slow/sappy. We're already using Feeder's cover of Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" and Meaghan Smith's cover of the Pixie's "Here Comes Your Man"

Well, I think "Isn't She Lovely" applies to your wife, not the baby.

I am probably in the minority here but I think it would be awfully cute to use the Rocky theme song.

Well, if we're doing indie rock covers, what about the Dirtbombs cover of "Do You See My Love (For You Growing)"?

I thought the same thing, but after reading the lyrics, each of the three sections of lyrics that I could possibly cut out kinda hints towards a female child. "Making one as lovely as she" ... "But isn't she lovely made from love"

Eisley has a wonderful song called 'My Lovely'. "Why do you wait for me, and how do you wait for me? I'm feeling alone without you here in my arms- Here's a song for you lovely!' For a 30 second clip, the refrain would be perfect. There is also a jungle beat bit. I can't link it, but if you PM me with your e-mail I'll send you the MP3. I'm sure you can find the lyrics easily.

The Radio Dept. - Heaven's on Fire

I just like how upbeat the melody is.

Surfer Blood - Take it Easy

I nominate this song for other parts of the video!

How about the first 30 seconds of Get This Party Started?

I'm coming up so you better get this party started.

Bob Hund - Istället for musik: Förvirring

Maybe not the belly intro, but great for the frantic energy to come: fooling around / making a mess / first bike / jumping on the coach / wrestling with dad and so on.

Oh, and the lyrics are about confusion. That sums it up.

Response by poster: All great suggestions! We have so much to choose from for the video - keep 'em coming if you have them!

heartofglass's suggestion is spot on with what we're looking for in the intro. The lyrics are absolutely perfect for this purpose and the beat is catchy.

More upbeat/kid-themed song recommendations are definitely welcome for this and future family video projects!

When I was sitting here thinking about it, it occurred to me that the opening of Also Sprach Zarathustra (aka "The 2001 movie theme") would be good, in an incongruous almost-jokey manner.

Then, with the first view of the newborn toddler, segue into something modern.

Paul Kelly's From Little Things Big Things Grow. It isn't super upbeat, but I think it would work for a time-lapse.
