Why is my Wordpress blog redirecting to a single post from the front page?

Help me figure out why my wordpress blog is redirecting the front page…

This is my wordpress blog address: www.bigparadela.com/wordpress

I recently made a new post, and since then, my blog has been directing from the above URL to the post's address:

http://www.bigparadela.com/wordpress/archives/1450

I've deleted the post, and now I get to the main page, but only with a "page not found" error that defaults to my main page. Clicking on the blog's logo or the link to "home" on the front page also goes to the archives page, then to the main page after erroring.

I've checked my htaccess and redirects at my hosting provider; they all work. I've also checked my redirects at the wordpress installation, and none of them point from the archives page, or to the main page.

I hope this is clear. Please let me know if I can provide more info.

Two things:

Just to make sure- did you check the settings>general in your control panel to make sure that the "Site address (URL)" setting is set to www.bigparadela.com/wordpress

If it's blank or already set to www.bigparadela.com/wordpress check your settings>reading to make sure the missing page's url was not reset there.

If you've already looked into those settings, and that is not the problem, what plug-ins do you have running? Are any for custom menu urls? I have "links to" and "exclude pages" plug-ins where I can set custom urls, so I'd check to make sure your default home page doesn't have its url overwritten by any plug-ins you've installed.

One last question, if nothing above is helpful: Are you using permalinks?

Could one of your theme files (index.php, single.php) be missing? What happens if you go to the default Wordpress theme and then go back to your own theme? Sometimes this resets bad behavior or at least gives you clues.
