planning costa rica trip with 7 year old in cordillera de la talamaca and just north of there. any ideas?

my au pair is from a coffee plantation in santa maria, costa rica. it is in the area south of san jose, in the northern part of the cordillera de la talamaca. i am visiting with her for 2 weeks in june and july with my 7 year old daughter. i don't want to travel much, i want a very quiet vacation without a lot of moving around. any ideas?

Talamanca is pretty far removed from most of the major tourist areas. I would think you could take a trip to the Limón coast, maybe to the beach towns of Cahuita or Puerto Viejo (although I think Cahuita is maybe a little more family-friendly). There's also a sloth rescue center near Cahuita if you're interested in that. Other than that, you might be able to reach some areas with Amerindian populations (I believe Buenos Aires has one of the bigger populations), although I'm not sure how far a drive that is from where you will be.
I wish I could help you out more, I'm not as familiar with the Talamanca region as with other parts of Costa Rica. If you have any questions about Costa Rica feel free to Mefimail me.
