Name my ferrets

Name my two new ferrets!

So we're adopting two ferrets this weekend, a male and a female, both sables, and, of course, we have no idea what to call them. I'm a big fan of 'pair' names, ones that go together (i.e. we had a pair of cats named Zelda and Scott). The more pompous and obscure the better!

I had two cats named Fanny and Joseph (anyone get that?). I'd think something like Roquefort and Stilton would be good, too, 'cause, you know, they kinda stink.

More!

- Anna and Vronsky
- Cathy and Heathcliff
- Odysseus and Penelope
- Benedick and Beatrice (plenty of Shakespearean options, really -- Hamlet and Ophelia, Othello and Desdemona, Romeo and Juliet [of course], etc.)
- Basil and Sybil (Fawlty)
- Pinky and the Brain
- Bogie and Bacall
- Nicholas and Alexandra
- Victoria and Albert
- Rudolf and Marie (definitely the most obscure of the bunch -- mad props to anyone who gets this)

The only pair of animals I've had were newts, who were named Scratch and Sniff. Sniff disappeared, but 5 years later I've still got Scratch.

I'm late to the party and most of the good ones are taken, but:

lower culture...
Fred and Ethel
Donnie and Marie
Luke and Leia
Major and Burns (MASH's ferret face)
Gidney and Cloyd (the moonmen on Bullwinkle... I just like the names)
Cosmo and Wanda (the Ferret Odd-Parents)
Hansel and Gretel
Frick and Frack (no relation to Click and Clack)

higher (or at least more obscure) culture...
Tahei and Matakichi (from Akira's Hidden Fortress)
Baucis and Philemon
Oberon and Titania (king and queen of the ferrets)
Echo and Narcissus (only if they're both really cute)
Lunt and Fontanne
Fibber and Molly
Flossie and Freddie (Bobbsey Twins)

blogging culture...
Permalink and Trackback

or even more pun-ishingly...

My niece once named two kittens Milk and Cookies. It was cute when it involved a five year old and two kittens; probably would be less so when it involves an adult male and two ferrets.

A friend of mine named her two cats Ernie and Berta.

How about:

Damon and Pythias;
Castor and Pollux;
Tom and Huckleberry;
Rhett and Scarlett (goes well with the surname "Ferret");
Hamlet and Ophelia,
Anthony and Cleopatra;
Winston and Clementine.
