Keep Nina Simone from driving my roommate crazy!

I've been listening to Nina Simone's "I'm Going Back Home" on repeat for the past few days -- what other songs will I love? Please keep me from driving my roommate crazy!

I know absolutely nothing about music, and even less about Nina Simone. I really only find music I love through happy accidents. Often, I try plugging a song I like into Pandora or something similar, but (a) "I'm Going Back Home" is not one of the options on Pandora and (b) most of the songs that come up when I enter "Nina Simone" are too slow for my current jubilant mood.

Also, while I know it's not the same genre, or even really the same feel, I've recently really been digging Mahalia Jackson's version of "Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho."

So, what similar songs would you recommend? The content of the lyrics is not particularly important, just the earfeel (like mouthfeel, but for music).

Emergency Ward / It Is Finished / Black Gold

This is one of the best CDs I have bought in years. Check out her version of The Pusher.

Any themesong from any sitcom starring Sherman Hemsley: The Jeffersons, Amen.

Ray Charles' "I Got A Woman," "What'd I Say," or indeed just about anything he's ever recorded.

Really, though, that rhythm is pretty much just straight-up hand-clappy gospel.
