Recommendation for a headshot photographer in DC?

[DC filter]: headshot photographer in DC?

My boyfriend is an actor and is not happy with his current headshot. His birthday is coming up, and I was thinking of setting him up with a photographer to shoot a new one. Are headshot gift certificates/pre-payment something one can do? If so, do you have any recommendations for a photographer?

I'm sure most photographers wouldn't have a problem with pre-payment. Personally, I don't offer gift certificates or anything like that but if asked, I'd be happy to make an arrangement for a client.
While I can't suggest any specific photographers (the only ones I know in DC are wedding photographers) I will encourage you to read and perhaps post over at the Backstage forums. You might be able to get some useful info from other actors in the DC area.

Response by poster: MrMoonPie, it doesn't look from that website like the photographer advertises doing headshots for actors. Do you know if she has experience in that area?

I know someone in the Virginia area, an Opera singer, that regularly does headshots for other performers (actors and singers). She would be in the "semi-pro" category and is quite good. MeMail me if you don't find a viable alternative and I'll check if she'd be interested in the opportunity.

Best answer: Try Karen Leonard. She specializes primarily in kids/familes/expectant moms, but also does headshots and will do gift certificates.
