I am borrowing a friend's iPad for a trip. Can I sync everything from my iTunes and make purchases from my account? Then when it is returned will she be able to re-set everything back to her account?

I want to have my music, movies, apps on it. When I return the iPad, can she simply just plug it into her computer and sync and everything will go back to her previous settings? Any risk involved with this?

If you make purchases, make sure to sync with your computer first. Then hand it over and she can put things back the way she wants them to be.

Yes. She should back it up in iTunes. Then you can reset it, do your business as if it's yours. Reset again. Give back. Restore backup.

I think that certain apps—even after the backup up to iTunes—might lose their data upon restore. She will still have all the *apps* on the phone, but she will need to re-authenticate with facebook for instance. Be careful that she doesn't have any critical information that's only on the ipad.

She should connect it to her computer, save any photos in the Camera Roll, and then head to iTunes and "Restore" it. It will ask her if she wants to back it up. She should do so. It will then reset to factory defaults, and ask whether she wants to restore the backup, but she should choose "Set up as new iPad".

You can then take it and do whatever it is you want to do with it.

When you're ready to return it, she should go through the "Restore" process again, but this time select the most recent backup. It will then

Some apps might lose passwords etc, but I've restored several iPhones and my iPad without losing any data except photos in the Camera Roll (hence my first instruction).

Instructions for the backup/restore process are here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
