Could my new drugs be keeping me awake?

Have woken up 'wired' and 'racy'. Lowered my medication today and wondering if that is the cause.
I'm currently on medication for pain management due to a fractured knee. For the past 8 weeks I've been on 10mg of Oxycontin twice a day with Endone and Tramadol being taken for when the pain gets too bad. Since leaving hospital last week I've finished up with the Endone (its been nearly a week now) and just today got a new script for Tramadol (which looked different to the ones I have been taking) and a lower grade (5mg) of Oxycontin, both of which I started taking this evening.
Yet tonight I've had trouble sleeping. I've woken up a few times feeling racy and buzzing, not quite here and almost like I'm high. Just before it felt like I was having a panic attack my head was racing so much.
I haven't had any large amounts of caffeine or sugar. Had a cup of tea around 2 hours before sleep though.
Could the new drugs be doing this?

Tramadol can do that, well, it can cause insomnia. I have a friend who uses it, and my husband has it for arthritis. Both of them have told me that at times they can't got to sleep when they take it. And they have both said they have woken up in the middle of the night, and be fully awake ready to go.

Go drop in on your pharmacist. They should be able to tell you.

Well, actually it could be a bit of withdrawal now that you're not taking as much medicine. The "buzzing" you mention reminds me of the crawly skin, jittery feeling I get from pain medicine withdrawal. It is also hard to sleep during withdrawal- but usually you will feel tired but the jittery feeling prevents sleep. If it's withdrawal, just try to soldier through it and your body will adjust.
But if this feels like revv'd up super hyper ready to conquer the world your body is made of caffeine: that's probably not withdrawal and you should check with either the pharmacy or your doctor.
