Who are the best folks to follow on twitter as a librarian or library science person? - or related fields? Information organizers?

and as always, the best ways to find more good people is to see who people you like are following, replying to, and favoriting

What kind of libraries most interest you? I'd recommend finding librarians in those kinds of libraries near where you are. And then see who they follow. Here are a few suggestions of some of the heavily-followed librarians on twitter:

http://twitter.com/librarianbyday
http://twitter.com/LibraryStuff
http://twitter.com/warmaiden
http://twitter.com/libraryfuture

Check their followers, and who they follow, and their lists.... that should get you started.

Since you listed this in Computers & Internet, can I assume that you're interested in techie librarian types? If not, let us know your friend's interests and we can probably do better. A Childrens librarian should follow @gcaserotti, while a techie public librarian type would be better off with @davidleeking or @theanalogdivide. Academic, but with an instructional bent? Follow @jazzmodeus. Academic, but interested in Digital preservation & institutional repositories? Follow @thereporat.

I can go on all day. :-) I'll second everyone mentioned above, though.

Griffey is being modest in not including himself, since he's a librarian rockstar.

There are tons of librarians on twitter! An easy way to find them is to find the hashtag for a library-related conference and see what folks are interested in from the tweets. Which hashtag to use depends entirely on what kind of library we're talking about, and what specialization. We some more details, we could give more specific advice.

Response by poster: What a fun thread - thanks you guys... Ill do a little poking around and curate the list - and repost a link here. It might be cool to do a meta thread where it is meta filter curated lists of best minds around any topic.

I personally am interested in Macro-foreign policy and economic minds and thinkers? Who is looking daily at the Global macro trends and events, ramifications and future implications? Not sure where to even start on that front: @scclemons ?
