Which film depicts a satanic ritual in which the participants wear cloaks and goat masks? I have only seen still images of this one scene online, I am presuming it is from a film. There are several cloaked figures standing viewed face-on, of which at least the foremost figure is wearing a goat mask (maybe it is actually satan?) - I am presuming it is some kind of occult / satanic ritual. Thanks in advance,

It sounds like it may be from the 1987 film version of Dragnet. This clip has some of the goat's head stuff.

Do you have any links to the stills? It might be the Inspector Morse episode 'The Day of the Devil' which has a satanic ritual in it.
Only pic I can find is this cover of the Region 1 DVD.

I don't think they were specifically goat/satan masks, but cloaked and masked figures in a ritualistic setting was one of the more prominent images from Eyes Wide Shut and its promotion.

Response by poster: It's none of the above I'm afraid. Pretty sure they're are wearing robes and it is a goats head/mask rather than the venetian masks depicted in Eyes Wide Shut. Also, it is in colour!

True Blood had a crazy woman who wore a goat-like mask.

Here is a shot of the mask in Young Sherlock Holmes. Wait about 3 seconds.

Was it made in the 70s? Did it have a bunch of young adults in an RV that gets stranded in a small town, and you eventually find out all of the townsfolk, including the sheriff, are cult members?

Response by poster: I'm afraid that's not it either. Robes are possible read or purple. Someone must know this! What I have seen is a portrait still shot of several people standing in a triangular formation if you see what I mean, with one person at the front (goat mask) and several behind them.

That movie you're thinking of is called Race with the Devil.

I don't recognise that still but it might be from one of the Dennis Wheatley books that were made into movies: To the Devil a Daughter or The Devil Rides Out.

Tineye lists 9 images but none seem to know the source. It reminds me of a Hammer House of Horror type film? Or alternatively some really old dodgy print-medium porn >:)

This looks very close to scenes in Satanis, but I don't recognize the wall paper. Seems contemporary with that, though.

Even if it's not the right film, it's a good addition to the list of culty movies here.

A comment on flickr says it's a Witchcraft magazine cover, probably from the 70s. I haven't been able to find anything more specific, but you could message the commenter or poster there.

I was going to comment that it looked more like a scanned in picture vs. a movie still and it seems Rhomboid has beat me to the details.

Yeah, I'm guessing magazine based on a vertical composition, obvious creases, and what appears to be a water or coffee stain in the lower-left corner. I'd also hazard a guess that it was bound along the right edge based on the wear pattern on the right side. Although it could also be a book cover as well.

You could always email someone at Viceland.com and ask them where they got the image.

I agree: it does not look like a still from a film. Of course, it could be a magazine photo of a still from a film, but whatever film it came from had a pretty poor cinematographer: that lighting is really flat and bad. So if it's a film, you'll be looking for, I'd wager, something sub-Hammer. A cheapie exploitation film, etc. And those are hard to track down with certainty.

It looks strangely familiar to me. Maybe it's from one of those cheesy, glossy 70s books about witchcraft and the paranormal.

It does not look to be Brotherhood of Satan, Spellbinder, or Alucarda. I am going to look through my meager Mondo Macabro collection, just so I can rule out Satan's Blood (yeah, I love schlock Satanico Pandemonium movies from the 70s, sue me).

You're definitely looking at 70s. The lighting is very stark, so I, too, lean towards the staged image vs. film still.

I am not seeing anything handy in the EXIF data, either from that image or from the large versions floating about.
