Do I need the extended warranty on a Sharp LCD HD 37" t.v.?

Extended warranty-filter on a Sharp LCD HD 37" t.v., do I really need it? Any experiences with repairs/cost on this or similar t.v.s?

I have no firsthand experience with one of these, but the only part that's likely to fail is the backlight, and that's probably explicitly excluded from the warranty. I'd expect anything else wrong to show up in the first year. You don't need it.

Does the extended warranty cover single-dead-pixel issues?

An LCD that size is probably only warranted by the manufacturer to be perfect to within say 10 stuck/dead pixels. After that, the extended warranty might let you return it for something that looks less terrible.

Response by poster: Thanks. I will check into the dead pixel issue!
