IE 8 is not Firefox. That's OK but also not.

Can I open a search result in a new tab in IE 8?
At my new job we have Windows 7 and IE 8. Everywhere else I've been recently, including at home, I ran (or run) Firefox with Greasemonkey and Tab Mix Plus. As far as I can tell, there's no TMP for IE, which kills me.
I do not have the option of installing Firefox here - we're an IE 8 shop and I have no administrator rights on my machine - and it drives me CRAZY that I seemingly can't open search results from the IE search box in a new tab by default.
Am I missing something? Is there some way to tell IE to open search results in a new tab automatically? Is there some IE extension that provides Tab Mix-esque functionality?

It used to be true that you didn't actually need admin rights to install Firefox provided you specified an installation directory somwhere you had write access to (e.g. a subfolder of My Documents) rather than using the default spot under Program Files. If Firefox couldn't write its registry settings into a subkey of the system-wide HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, it would fall back to putting them under HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead. I haven't tried this with 3.6 but you might want to.
Or there's Portable Firefox, but I've always found it very slow to launch.
Every now and again I do try to get something done with IE8, but it usually only takes five minutes before I'm swearing at it.

Response by poster: CharlesV42 - I know about those, but I was hoping there was a way to tell IE to do it automatically on hitting Enter, like TMP allows you to do in Firefox.
Flabdablet - I work in a very small office (12 people) that really frowns on non-MSFT products - they're a MSFT Gold Technology Partner and they really don't want people using things that aren't IE, and in a place this small (I sit right next to the owner and his principal partner. There's nowhere to hide. I'm stuck with IE.
Thanks all.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro :-)
But seriously - my deepest condolences. Working with religious zealots totally sucks, and I hope you find something better soon.
