What about this apartment is making my throat constrict?

The last couple of times I have come over to my friends house I have noticed my throat starts to constrict some, not like it is hard for me to breath or even that uncomfortable, just enough to feel like I have something in my throat or am in the middle of swallowing.

Some background, I used to live here for a while and there is also a cat here but this never seemed to bother me before and I have no known allergies. My only guesses right now are: 1.) This apartment is much warmer than mine and it has something to do with that, 2.) Something with how I am sitting on the couch here? 3.) I am incredibly hungry and not doing something about it soon enough.

None of my guesses seem likely, but I don't know why I have this feeling, I don't feel particularly anxious. What do you think?

I have this problem in the winter simply because of the dry air in my warm apartment. It usually only happens after a prolonged exposure though, like overnight.

Response by poster: Well, I haven't been here overnight, just a couple of hours. At first I thought that might be it, but now I have been drinking water like a madman and still no change...

Do they have a heatdish to warm up the apartment?

I've had some pretty severe reactions to heatdishes in the past...they completely dry out the air around them, and I ended up almost not being able to breathe (not sure why the dry air would matter, but it did.)

Response by poster: No just radiators

Are you stressed out? Might not be the apartment, if so...

You can get (dis)acclimated to allergies; you were around the cat all the time so it didn't bother you, now that you're away from the cat when you're exposed to the dander it bothers you.

Also apartments with radiators can be dry too...

If you notice it when you're sitting on the couch, it seems like it might be the cat given how upholstered furniture is a good place for the cat dander and whatnot to hang out for a while.
