What's the matter with Carruthers

I'm trying to locate elementary reading textbooks from the late 70s early 80s. All I have to go on is that the first grade text was a 3 parter and the first two parts were Footprints and Carousel and were in paperback format. Later grades had the heavy textbook type in a monochrome cover and one was called Melody( I think this was the third grade text) and was either teal or violet. The other books in that series also had a one word title and a monchrome color scheme for the covers.

Publishers were possibly HBJ or Houghton Mifflin.

Best answer: Found 'em. Here. I had them too as a kid. 15 in total and they were:
Rockets, Surprises., Footprints., Honeycomb., Cloverleaf., Sunburst., Tapestry., Windchimes., Passports., Medley., Keystone., Impressions., Encore., Accents.

Enjoy.

I think you're looking for the Houghton Mifflin "Reading" series, which included other titles like "Moonbeams" and "Trumpets."

Here's a copy of Carousels, but I'm having a hard time finding the original-cover ones.
