Best analysises on Blade Runner?

I watched Blade Runner last night. If I google for "Blade Runner analysis" there are a ton of results but few of them seem any good. Who can recommend me a good analysis of the film?

Are you talking about an academic analysis? Giulana Bruno has a good one here although you probably want to find the book for the full text. Google Scholar has a ton of papers that you should probably use as a reading list as opposed to non-academic sources such as Slate or IMDB. That is, if you want a "good analysis".

From a friend who has seen that movie WAY too many times:

"Future Noir: the making of blade runner by Paul Sammon
Retrofitting Blade Runner by Judith Kerman

I could seriously spend hours discussing that film...."

I have the Kerman book that 8dot3's friend mentions, and highly recommend it. It's a collection of essays with such titles as "The Android as Doppelganger," "The New Eve: The Influence of Paradise Lost and Frankenstein on Blade Runner," and "Subverting the Disaffected City: Cityscape in Blade Runner."

An essential contemporary review is Pauline Kael's in The New Yorker. It's in her collections For Keeps and Taking It All In, Google indicates.

It was my first experience of the movie, and I can still remember bits of it 27 years later.
