Help with a flapper-esque/roaring twenties halloween costume for a curvy girl!

My boyfriend and I are going to be flappers for halloween. His costume is in the bag, but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas that won't make me look like a sack of potatoes. I am quite tiny, but also busty and hippy. Things like this are really unflattering on me. I need something tight against my waist, but that shift style of dress is all that I can find.

I'm not looking to buy my costume, but I'm looking for inspiration. Any ideas for a twenties-style dress that would look good on a curvy figure? Or, pictures of twenties' girls looking NOT like a twelve year old boy. Thanks!

This style of dress might work, you could take it in at the waist and it would still have that fringey - flappery style to it. The halter neck would work with your bustline as well.

Here is another one that looks to have some curve at the waistline as well.

Another style of dress.

I think that you can get away with having nipped in waists and a tighter bust if you have lots of fringe. Fringe may be your best friend.

A different style but just as pretty and I think it would work shape wise.

You could go fitted and long like the dress illustrated on the right.

Catherine Zeta Jones in the movie Chicago was curvy and had some great costume ideas, like this one. Maybe you could watch the movie or find some stills for ideas.

Unique Vintage has an excellent selection of Flapper dresses, and tends to use models that don't look stick-thin. I'm quite curvy as well, and have worn a dress with this waistline to great success.

There are lots of good links at The Costumer's Manifesto if you want something authentically 1920s.

I'm busty with big thighs, so they fringy flapper thing would never work for me either. I would do something like a slip/nightgown with a simple tunic out of a printed sheer fabric with a long tie at the hips/lower waist (it's funny, I wrote out my costume idea and then found the link on the excellent dressmaking research site.)
