Is there an alternative to the official last.fm desktop application for scrobbling tracks to iTunes?

I've just discovered that the last.fm scrobbling application is responsible for my iTunes' recent excruciating slowness. Awesome, except I miss keeping track of all of the songs I play. Is there an alternative application that will do the same thing? I'm on Snow Leopard, using iTunes 9. Bonus points for Growl compatibility.

Best answer: I use iscrobbler. I'm not totally sure what the last.fm client is, but I've been using this for years.

Here's an incomplete list. I'm using bowtie.

Another recommendation for iscrobbler, which is indeed Growl compatible. I've also been using it for years, ever since I got fed up with the official application. It's a mess.

Thirding iScrobbler. I've been using it since the Audioscrobbler days and never "upgraded" to the last.fm application.

Fourthing iScrobbler. I've never looked at any other option in years. I often forget that I een have it running for weeks at a time.

Response by poster: Thanks all! I was using iScrobbler awhile ago, but I'm pretty at some point I was prompted to switch" to the official client (I think by iScrobbler, strangely enough)? So I assumed it no longer existed. It is working perfectly, no slowdowns, Growl compatible.

Based on advice in this thread, I switched to iScrobbler, but got annoyed when its Growl notifications refused to display the album art. The nifty little scrobbler linked in this thread, designed by a guy who used to work for last.fm, does the job just fine.

And for some reason, iScrobbler has decided to display album art in the Growl notifications just fine after I restarted my computer. Oh, the caprices of technology!
