Is it possible to unlock an iPhone 3GS without using ultrasn0w, legally or otherwise? Jailbroken apps are allowed.

Response by poster: By "otherwise", I mean "not officially sanctioned by Apple or AT&T".

You can get them unlocked (legally). But not AT&T ones. In New Zealand they have to be sold unlocked, in Australia you have to call the carrier and it takes some days, but it's not a big deal. I'm not sure about iphones in other countries.

I haven't seen any other unlock methods for AT&T ones, but hopefully somebody else knows more.

Why do you want to unlock the phone without using Ultrasn0w?

There is also purplera1n. (sorry, you'll have to google it yourself for details, firewalls!)

purplera1n is a jailbreak tool, not an unlocker.
