I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike.

How much would it cost me to buy two secondhand bikes near Stockholm, Sweden? And where would I buy them?

Just something decent enough to ride around the city, but not overly nice enough to be theft-worthy (one for a man, one for a woman). Thanks!

Are you visiting or living in the region? If the former, consider renting: e.g. from Stockholm City Bikes or some other site linked from
this page.

To buy, check Blocket, and look for something that suits your wallet. Or buy a pair of singlespeed bikes from Biltema; they're inexpensive and quite solid.

Not sure there's such a thing as a "not nice enough to be theft-worthy", really - even if your bike looks like crap, someone might grab it just because they missed the last bus home...

Response by poster: Yea! An answer! Thanks! To clarify, this is for two friends of mine who are moving there permanently, but the rental idea is helpful too until they get settled, or for when they have visitors.

Secondkng Blocket. Check also their local paper. Expect about 1000 kr f
minimum for any bike, new or used, bikes are madly overpriced here. the bike shop cykelringen often has midnight sales this time of year, advertised in Metro. I am flogging mine if the get stuck :)

Cykelringen has rather crappy stuff, in my experience, at least if you buy their cheap bikes (you may not pay that much, but you get less than what you pay for). I'd recommend Biltema over them any time if you want something new but inexpensive; especially the singlespeeds I mentioned which are just over SEK 1000.

Oo, really?I honestly didn't know that. Will skip the late-sale tonight so :)

Well, I'm not saying that everything they sell is automatically bad - the first bike I bought from them was a bit more expensive MTB that served me well (until it got stolen), but I've been less happy with the cheaper bikes I've bought from them. And their "sales" approach are a bit fishy, to say the least; they are known to use made-up "before" prices and sell the stuff even cheaper after the sale; see e.g. Lägre priser - efter rean (where they blame their violations of swedish law on a software glitch) and Cykelringen rullar vidare.
