Best / cheapest hotel to stay at by the new Dallas Cowboy's stadium?

I'm going to be there in three weeks and the prices seem high.. If anyone knows of a hotel with free shuttle service to the airport too, that would be great.

There won't be any hotels in Arlington with free shuttle to the airport; it's just too far.

If you're coming for an event, the prices will be high, I'm afraid, and they're only going to get higher the closer we get to the date. In the immediate surrounding area, the hotels also service the convention center, Six Flags, and the Ballpark. They routinely see high traffic, and therefore price accordingly.

In the end, though, it really depends on what you're willing to put up with. If you don't mind being a few miles away, you might try some of the hotels that are on the Arlington Trolley line. There are plenty of hotels of varying quality up and down Lamar and Brookhollow Plaza that could work if this is a viable option for you.

If you have transportation, you can go a bit further out to find inexpensive hotels would be in Hurst/Euless/Bedford. Lots of hotels here of brand and off brand (though I don't recommend these) varieties, and they'll be less because they won't be as close to the epicenter of the event.

Hope this is of some assistance.

To second what angeline wrote (I live in the metroplex as well), it's not going to happen. The Rangers will be in town, as well as Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor and (your likely destination) Paul McCartney all being present and accounted for. Cheap and Arlington hotels don't go together because there's no easy way to get into or out of Arlington (they voted for the Cowboys stadium instead of public transportation) so people either have to stay close--like visitors will do--or drive in.

If you find yourself driving in, do set out EARLY. Construction and the newness of the stadium have made for terrible traffic and parking.
