How can I find out historical data on the price of plane tickets?

I am trying to answer several questions that are along the lines of "How much did it cost to fly from airport A to airport B during time C"?

In 2003? 1983? 1963? It really makes a difference. One quick and easy way is archived scans of newspapers, though these tend to be more along the lines of excursion specials. I remember back in the 1980s American Airlines regularly took out half page ads with fares in the A section of the Dallas Morning News.
