Where can I find historical data of which were the most popular or most visited web sites around a particular time in the past? Looking specifically for April, 2007.

I am working on a research project and am trying to find out what the top N most visited sites on the Internet were in April 2007. For example, there is current data from Alexa here, but I don't see any way to find older versions of the data. I checked the Internet Archive as well, to no avail. Apparently the free list of 1M sites is recent.

Any ideas on where to look?

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I hope it helps.

Response by poster: Thanks, but that isn't quite it. I was hoping more for a list of which web sites received the most traffic, either by bytes or visitors or something.

Best answer: Current top sites: http://toolbar.netcraft.com/stats/topsites. Historical data might be available via the Internet archive.
