What classical music piece is being played by the Lamaze Chime Garden toy in this video?

I think it might be Schubert...

We have one of those too, I just asked my wife and she doesn't know.

But she would also like to know what the other song that it plays is too.

Best answer: Robert Schumann, The Happy Farmer from Album for the Young

Best answer: flug has it. In German it's called "Fröhlicher Landmann, von der Arbeit zurückkehrend" (the happy/merry/cheerful farmer, returning from work) from "Album für die Jugend" -- op. 68, no. 10. Here's a link to someone playing it on YouTube.

You might also recognize it as part of the melody of the (now public domain) song called "Red Wing" by Mills/Chattaway (covered by lots of folks -- here's an old 78 recording at the Internet Archive).

how funny - I have that toy also and I asked my dad (who knows much more about classical music than I do) to identify it for me.

two things about the chime garden:

1) those little tunes will utterly worm their way into your brain. I've caught myself humming that very piece in the shower many times.

2) when the baby tosses it out of the crib it makes a very satisfying crash :-)
