Thing on my thing needs to be biopsied - should I be terrified?

MediFilter: I need to have some small growths biopsied in an - erm - "sensitive" area. How bad is this going to suck?
I have two very small blackish-bluish growths in the glans area of my penis. My urologist seems to think they're probably nothing to worry about but wants to do a biopsy to make sure.
Is this going to be the worst thing ever? There is topical anesthetic involved (read: a needle jammed into a place I would prefer to keep needle-free for the rest of my life) and "maybe a stitch if necessary" - so naturally I'm assuming the worst. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this, and if so, how bad was it? I'm absolutely petrified.

i am a woman, so do not have your specific parts. but, i have had various skin things biopsied. i've had both a "punch" biopsy and a "shave" biopsy. i don't know what kind you're going to have, but i'm going to guess punch, since he mentions stitches.
anyway, the shot they give you stings like a mofo, but then you totally don't feel the biopsy. you also can't feel the stitches they put in. once the anesthetic wears off, there's a bit of a throbby/stinging for a day or so, and then it's just a matter of keeping the area clean while it heals. i used a band-aid, but i don't know that i would recommend that for a penis.
i've also had my cervix biopsied. that made me want to vomit. just fyi.
so, i dunno. frankly, i wouldn't worry about it. it'll suck for a minute and then be over. though, i would ask for explicit instructions on how to keep the area clean, etc. while it heals.

Ask your doctor for anti-anxiety meds first. Seriously. No need to suffer mentally.

I had a similar procedure in a similar place (albeit about 3 inches "down" from the glans). It did not require the stitch.
The shot will sting as mentioned above. Procedure will be pain free from there.
You will want to leave it alone for a few days while healing, especially if you get the stitch. Erections might not be too much fun for weeks / days.
As always, YMMV & IANYD.
[Non-obligatory TMI: This was for a skin tag. The first time, the doc tried to "burn" it off with liquid nitrogen. That didn't work so he had to cut two weeks later.]
