Why is India an economic success?

I'm looking for books, articles or blogs analyzing India's economic success. (at least over the past few years)

I've been searching and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Specifically, I know I read something at a point in time in their investment in higher education that makes them different from China.

Best answer: The Elephant and the Dragon may be what you're looking for.
"The Elephant and the Dragon is the essential guide to understanding how India and China are reshaping our world. With labor now unbound from geographic borders, we're seeing startling shifts in how—and where—nearly everything we buy is made. In a compelling mix of history and on-the-ground reporting, veteran journalist Robyn Meredith untangles the complex web of business and politics, as well as environmental and cultural issues that entwine India, China, and the West."

Best answer: I've heard 'In Spite of the Gods' is good; I haven't read it myself but it appears to cover the sort of territory you're interested in.
