Recommendations for cat boarding in Brooklyn?

I live in Park Slope and need to board an elderly, high-maintenance cat for 4-5 days. Does anyone have experience with any local services, preferably close to Park Slope? Cat-sitting not really an option.

I've walked by this place many times, but I don't have a cat so I can't vouch personally. Here is what one reviewer said about boarding there:

We've also had to board our cats here when we travel, and we've had great experiences, although at $20/cat per day, it's a little pricey. They will put our cats together in a large, connected cage so they have each other as companions. Last time, I guess our boys were fighting, so they separated them. Each cat gets to come out and have "free time" in the boarding area every day, which is nice, so they are not just cooped up the whole time.

Alternatively, you could see if your regular vet does boarding.

A hearty recommendation for Animal Kind. They are fantastic, and right in Park Slope. Took my cat to a few different places, and this is by far the best. Other friends have had the same experience.

Sorry, just took another glance and realized they do not have boarding services. I have only used their veterinary services in the past. Perhaps give them a call and see if they can recommend a place to board.

Response by poster: I went to Animal Kind, they just gave me a list of what you'd essentially get from a Google search, many of which were listed as dog places. Hoping to get a personal recommendation.

I've also used 5th Ave. Cat Clinic before (I used to live around the corner), but the one time I boarded my cat he came back sick.

It's not the Slope, but it would be worth the $15 car service ride: Williamsburg Animal Clinic boards, and I think everyone who works there truly loves animals. This is my personal vet. We don't board our cat but if we did we would do it here.

It is also near an L stop so you could car service there and take a train back. I realize that if you live in the Slope it's going to be a PITA to get there and back on the train.

Response by poster: Travel's not an issue, I've got Zipcar- do you know if they board for non-vet vists?

Best answer: You might search or ask at the Brooklynian boards. They seem to have a few cat boarding threads that aren't too old. FWIW, I've used Sandee's Kitty Sitting, and my sitter is a former vet tech. She seemed surprised that I didn't need anything complicated or medical for my cats and only needed once a day visits.

I know the Cobble Hill Animal Clinic (718-834-1800) is a beloved and trusted neighborhood standby; you could also ask them for a recommendation.

Response by poster: The Brooklynian Boards turned out to be a great resource. We had a great experience at Woofs 'n' Whiskers.
