How do i find out which program is playing music on my PC?

This has happened a few times - I'm in a situation that some application or perhaps a certain tab window in Firefox is playing music. What's the fastest way of finding out what that application is? I'm running Windows XP. If it's Firefox, what's the fastest way of finding out what tab it is?

Open up the task manager and start termininating programs one at a time. When the sound stops, you know you got it.

If you think it's firefox. start closing tabs one at a time. Of course, keep notes on what each one was before you close it, so you know after the fact.

Of course, if you're too aggressive about it you can cripple your system, but it's not a big deal. Just reboot after you figure it out.

If you close a Firefox tab and it wasn't the one playing music and you want it back, Shift-Control-T will re-open it.

Shift-Control-T will re-open it

Oh my god, that's awesome. I'm a Moz/FF junkie and I had no idea. Previously.

It's the Firefox tab of that youtube video you is clicked on yesterday and then forgot about and then it reloaded when you re-opened FF and then was slow loading so 5 minutes later ... music.

So: to answer your question - close the tab with the youtube icon !!
