At this point I may just be imagining it...

Name That Song: I could have *sworn* that the Staple Singers "Lets do it again" was sampled by someone in Hip Hop a while ago. I'm talking about the string part that starts about 1:50 in this video. I can't for the life of me find it! Any Ideas?

Best answer: Awww yeah, that's been sampled, more than once! The song that originally jumped to my mind was a remix of Ice Cube's "It Was A Good Day" that appeared on the single release back in 1991 or so, but you're probably thinking of something a little later. Here's that particular one I'm talking about.

According to The Breaks, it was also used for Blackgirl's "Let's Do It Again" and Disturbing that Peace's "Let's Do It Again" (astoundinginly original song titling there).

Whilst not really being hip-hop, John Legend's "Number One" also sampled it. I'm sure there's a bunch of others that have taken it too ; it's a gorgeous song perfectly suited for chopping up and playing around with!

Ice Cube - It was a good day. Also, appending #t=1m50s to the end of the youtube url makes it start playing right around then.

That Cube remix also appears on the Bootlegs and B-Sides compilation. And, like 'Paid in Full,' it's one of those where the remix is probably more famous than the original.

alice ayres, I found the Ludacris / DTP song you're talking about - it's a remix of Growing Pains, and yep, it's also got the sample.
