Is it worth the money to go to the Gel conference?

Is it worth the money to go to the Gel conference? I went last year and found it really inspiring, and it helped me generate some fresh thinking in my work. But my brother pointed out a much cheaper conference with similar stature speakers that he found inspiring: NY Times Small Business Summit.

I'm torn -- I really enjoyed Gel, but the price seems really high. Could I get a better bang for the buck elsewhere?

For further background, Gel was described as a "poor man's TED".

The deadline for discounted registration is Tuesday, so I'm trying hard to make up my mind.

I'd say yeah, it's expensive. If you can find a cheaper alternative and cost is an issue, the choice seems pretty easy.

I find the conference is worth it to me because I get to visit NYC in the spring and see friends and get dazzled for a couple days with interesting stories of how people are trying to do things better.

Response by poster: It's not so much the cost... but rather the cost/benefit ratio. Is there another conference out there that's just as good but costs less?

Response by poster: I bit the bullet and decided to attend again. Surprised only one MeFite had an opinion on this one!
