Romantic Southeast Texas?

Looking for fun, quirky, romantic fun in Houston or on the way from Houston to Austin.
We live in Austin and are spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Houston. Looking for stuff to do away from Austin and our usual Hill Country stomping-grounds. Oh, and we love kitsch...and jacuzzi tubs.
Also, anyone know if Galveston's back on her feet yet?

For kitsch, maybe Schlitterbahn's Hill Country Christmas. It begins the day after Thanksgiving, though.

Fellow Austin resident here, also a native Houstonian with relatives in Houston (who will be spending part of T-Day weekend down there herself). I can't speak to the status of Galveston, but I was in Clear Lake last month for a Celtic festival and most things there appeared to be open.
For quirky Houston fun, I suggest the Art Car Museum and the Beer Can House.

Check out DiverseWorks and the Orange Show.
Also, go to The Heights. There are some great restaurants, shops, antique dealers, houses, etc. Its a great neighborhood.

Not kitschy but beautiful and romantic is the Yuletide at Bayou Bend exhibition, which opens next week.
If you were down one week later, I would say Dickens on the Strand in Galveston, which is going on despite Ike, and always manages fun, kitschy and romantic, all. Alternatively in Galveston, Moody Garden's "Festival of Lights" will be on next week; I've never been so I can't recommend it personally but Lord knows the city could use the business.
On the way down or back, you could stop in Brenham and visit the Blue Bell Creamery, a pilgrimage that every Texan should make at least once.
