Moldova

Does anyone have any ideas on worthwhile places to visit during my stay in Chisinau, Moldova? I love to see sights and examples of very traditional places, relics of it's ex-Soviet history, etc. Furthermore, are there any bars/restaurants/museums worth visiting during my stay?

Any suggestion is welcome, although since I am a tourist, ideally it'd have to be relatively close, if not in the city.

I have an interest in politics and history.

Have you read Playing the Moldovans at Tennis? It's a funny travelogue which may have some ideas.
