Help me find the apron of my Nana's dreams!

Apron Filter! Where can I get a really nice (pretty, well-made) waist apron for my beloved Nana? Catch - must fit UK size 20-22!

My Nana has wanted a nice waist apron for ages, (i.e. not one that goes over your head) but can't find one. It's her birthday soon so I'd like to get her one but my google-fu and shopping-fu are failing!

I've found some nice ones at Anthropologie but the trouble is, the largest measurement they have is 34-inch apron ties, which according to their size guide is a UK size 14. My Nana is...um...a little stout, and I'd hate to get her something that doesn't fit.

So, i'm looking for shops that sell nice aprons in larger sizes, that ship to the UK (or within reach of Harrogate). Thank you in advance!

Try Etsy. You should be able to find someone local-ish to the area that will custom make an apron if you don't see one that's already available.

Try www.etsy.com. Sellers there will custom-make things in the size and fabrics of your choice. Search 'apron' on the site.

This eBay seller has lots of aprons and may well make one in a larger size if you ask.

I'd also suggest you have a look on your local market for a textile stall, or in the town for an old-fashioned shop that sells overalls, tea towels, etc. as they're also likely to sell aprons.

This one's pretty, and the ties extend, it says, to 230cm, which is 90 inches, apparently.

I'd pay someone to make one, if Etsy et al don't work out. Then you could pick out the fabric etc yourself and make sure it's as pretty and wonderful as your nana. What a cool idea for a gift!

Best answer: This etsy seller has super cute half-aprons that fit up to a 2X (size 20ish) and, it looks like, is open to shipping outside of the US.

But I looked at those Anthropologie aprons -- is it possible that each tie (not the total of both) measures 34 inches? That's how I would interpret those descriptions. Also, the waist measurement would include the width of the front of the apron as well as the ties; that is, an apron with 34 inches of ties would also have maybe 20 inches of actual apron -- so those might still be workable for you.

I trawl the vintage sections of eBay(.co.uk) a few times a week for little bargains, and there are certain things you're guaranteed to find - aprons being one of the most popular (also scarves and stockings!).
