Does anyone know how I could find a broken-down looking bus on short notice?

I need a broken down looking bus in Raleigh NC. How can I find one of those?

To make a long story short, I'm looking to find a dilapidated old bus to serve as a background for a media event I'm putting together.

How does one find such a thing? A junkyard? A school?

As an aside, I often find myself with location specific local questions like this that I feel silly asking metafilter about. Is there some way to localize ask metafilter? Maybe create a listserve? Anyone want to help me put together a NC one?

I'd try Craigslist, eBay, and the local school bus company (or school district, if they own their own buses). Hemmings Motor News might be worth a shot, too.

Followup - here's what I found on a Craigslst Raleigh search for bus:

- 1970 Silver Eagle Bus (perhaps not broken down enough)
- 15 passenger bus

Call local transit departments and find out where their boneyards are, and whether or not they would allow you to tow a hulk out of the yard for a day, then bring it back.

Of course regular junkyards will also have them, but you'd pretty much have to buy, not borrow it. Then you'd be stuck with a huge broken bus.
