What's the instrument played by the old man in Hero? What's that style of music called?

If you're talking about the scene which opens with the two characters playing Go, the instrument is called a guqin, I believe; according to this article, it's a seven-string plucked instrument, a description which seems to match the instrument played in the movie. As for the style of music played in the movie, I'm afraid I'm at a loss, but here's a rather extensive site detailing the guqin.
