what should i name my sock puppet?
i need an alternative username so that i can make vitriolic comments without the fear of my real account being deleted. it will also help me to add another voice of support to whatever opinion i have on some comment thread. maybe i'll even make a self-linking fpp one day....
so give me some ideas. of course, i won't choose any of your ideas, because then folks will know that my sock puppet is, in fact, a sock puppet. folks will simply know that there is an alterlocalhuman lurking somewhere in the seethy underbelly of mefi, though they might not know who that is.
maybe we can make a game out of it. first person to correctly identify my sock puppet will win a prize and also doom the sock puppet to death

This post was deleted for the following reason: this should be on metatalk
Wait no! localhost is much better. Choose that one! or don't choose it or choose it and don't tell us. Or tell us you chose it then don't, but then do. Then feed us all iocane powder.

Response by poster: the prize might be a one month's paid subscription to that new youtube service, a Wii, or a molotov cocktail through the winner's bedroom window

Isn't this Metafilter-related? So it should be on MetaTalk, not here.
I can't help wondering what good a sock puppet will do to someone who can't even come up with a new username by himself.

I second the "it should be on Metatalk" notion.

Best answer: I have used up my MetaTalk post in the past four days, but I think rather than clutter the green with noise, we should bitch and whine extensively about this misuse of AskMe over there.
I don't think you should have a sock puppet. What you need is a back rub, a splif, and then a long hot bath.

This post is dismissed for want of subject matter jurisdiction.

Response by poster: already wasted my weekly askMe on this, so i won't waste my metatalk post on a question deemed so reprehensible by the hive mind.
regret and shame are mine. lessons learned: do not openly reveal one's malicious intentions. do not use a facetious question in order to create a discussion around the practice of sock-puppetry. do not askMe.

localhuman : "lessons learned: do not openly reveal one's malicious intentions. do not use a facetious question in order to create a discussion around the practice of sock-puppetry. do not askMe."
Haven't you learned "do not try to be a smart-ass after being caught with your pants down"? Because the last thing your misplaced question looked like is "a facetious question in order to create a discussion around the practice of sock-puppetry". Especially because, as you learned, the hive mind likes to discuss sock-puppetry in MetaTalk, not in AskMe.
