Identify a logo similar to the 1914 Cubs?

Twice in my life I have seen someone wearing a cap with something like this. Can't find a match in any major or minor league historical logo. Closest thing is the 1914 Cubs logo, except the Cubs logo faced right and had a little more detail -- the one I'm looking for is a very simple white sillhouette on a navy or black cap. Bonus points if you can tell me where to get one of those hats. Triple bonus points if it turns out to be the South Pole cricket team.

Is it the Bear Bat Saru Cap?

Give the Cooperstown Ballcap Company a call, they should be able to help you, and they're hats are beautiful.

Here are a few more 1914 Cubs caps, for what that's worth.

I can't find an online image of it, but I believe it may be a replica of Newark Bears (minor league baseball) hat from the 1930's.

It's a Cubs hat. My brother has about six of them. Try Lids.

Also, the reason it may look different is that there are a ton of vendors down by Wrigley that sell knock-off hats. The ones you have seen may have been knock-offs. If you want me to go down there and find one that matches your logo, I can do that the next time the Cubs are in town (August 18).

Response by poster: It's not any of the Cubs caps linked above, although it is similar. The first time I saw this logo was 15-20 years ago, and eventually I decided I must be misremembering it. Then I saw one again just a few weeks ago and it's much closer to my drawing above. A very simple outline, bat facing down, which also rules out the Bear Bat Saru.

Possible secret symbol of baseball-loving Illuminati?

The Denver Bears had a similar logo, but I can't find a good cap picture.

I'm pretty sure box nailed it with this.

Response by poster: Negatory, it's still not the 1914 Cubs logo. I just spotted this cap a couple weeks ago. Right now I'm leaning towards either knock-off logo, or a foreign team. I checked a lot of Central/South American teams and nothing matched, but I don't remember if I've scoured the Japanese league in all my searching -- nightwood's link makes me wonder if that's where it's from.

Those are all over Chicago. Unlicensed Cubs gear.

I thought they were cute until I realized that they were for the Cubs. [shudder]

Try looking around ebbets.com. They sell caps and jerseys from the -

Negro Leagues
Minor Leagues
Cuba & Latin Baseball
Japanese Baseball
Federal League
Continental Football League.

I used to get their catalogue and could swear I saw something like this. (polar bears maybe?)

Mattbucher, I thought it was the old Denver Bears logo too. (To this day, I snort when I hear reference to the Colorado Rockies -- when I was growing up out there, the Rockies were the hockey team.)
