Editing the Wordpress Dashboard

Editing the Wordpress Dashboard: how do I make it show the most recent post & how much spam is in my Akismet queue? I'm using Wordpress 2.6, and the latest version of Akismet.

1] I edit the latest published post frequently during the day, so having a link to edit that post on the Dashboard is a very useful thing to me. Is there a plugin or perhaps some code I can add to wp-admin/index.php to make a link to the latest post show up? The code I was using in a previous version of Wordpress no longer works.

2] I like to check and clean out my Akismet queue regularly. When viewing the Dashboard, there is a section that says "You have X posts, X pages" etc, then underneath, there is a line, provided by the Akismet plugin, that says "Akismet has protected your site from X spam comments already, but there's nothing in your spam queue at the moment.". Neither of the hyperlinks in this section are clickable, despite the HTML showing them as fully formed URL's. How can I make these URL's clickable?

I realise that it's only a few extra clicks to get this same functionality on another page, but I'd much rather only have one click to each function.

What do you mean the hyperlinks aren't clickable? This might be something wrong with your particular installation, because both of my Akismet links function properly on all of the blogs that I run.

On testing, they work fine in Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox. In IE, they behave like any normal hyperlink. In Firefox, I can't click on any of the text in that paragraph, even to highlight it.

Sounds like you might have a problem with a firefox extension. Have you tried disabling them and checking it then?
