Coffee + Wifi + Georgetown=?

Where are good coffee places with wifi in the Georgetown area?

I need a place to work, since my room is too distracting. In Minnesota there were tons of coffee places near campus with wifi, but I cannot find the same here in D.C. I would prefer it if there wasn't loud music blaring, but I may be able to ignore it anyway.

Having lived in both cities, I have to say that DC cannot compare with Minneapolis when it comes to coffeeshops. I have lots of theories about why this is, but that would just devolve into reckless DC-bashing, so I won't go into it*. Anyway, I don't know Georgetown well, but if you're willing to venture out, there are some good places elsewhere. Tryst in Adams Morgan is the old faithful, but it does tend to have loud music and turns into a bar at night. I like Mayorga in Columbia Heights: it's in an old theater and is just really beautiful.

To be honest, I went to Caribou a lot when I lived in DC and needed to get work done. It's a chain, but they have free wifi, comfy seating, and the music's never too loud.

*OK, OK I can't resist: workaholic culture, overheated real estate market, low tolerance for funkiness.

I've found the best place is the Renaissance M Street hotel/Illy coffee- it's just outside Georgetown (about 22nd & M NW) but depending on which side of GTown you're on, it might be a very short walk. It has a very nice lobby, large couches, and is very quiet.

Barring that, maybe the Saxby's near Georgetown U campus on 3500 O Street NW (kinda small)? I hear Baked & Wired right near the canal is good but have never been.

Here is a list for all of DC. I haven't lived in NW for a while and it's a bit of a hike, but I am fond of Soho's coffee.

Response by poster: Well, I'm at Saxby's right now, and I like it. Thanks for the other suggetions. I live in the Foxhall area, so Illy may be a bit of a trek.

I don't know if they have wifi, but you can check out Figs on MacArthur near the Exxon station at Reservoir Road and MacArthur. There is also a Starbucks on the north side MacArthur near Arizona Avenue. It seems to be a quieter Starbucks.
