Can anyone recommend somewhere good to buy an engagement ring in Toronto?

O glorious hivemind. My beautiful fiancee and I are travelling from Ireland to Toronto in August for 7 days. With the euro being as strong as it is, we thought it might make sense to buy the engagement ring while we're there. Could anyone recommend a good jewelery shop in the city that might be worth visiting?

Made you look is a great gallery/store where you can get custom made stuff done. Lots of beautiful and unique stuff there. I got my wedding band there. Andrea Golden made it.

If you're looking for the classic diamond ring, you might want to try ordering from Blue Nile. I could not find a better price for the engagement ring I bought last year.

Good luck!

If your fiancee to be is into the big names, Cartier and Tiffany & Co. both have stores in Toronto. If you walk around Bloor-Yorkville (Bloor and Yonge/Queen's Park area) you will probably find other jewelers as well.

My wife and I got our wedding bands and her engagement ring from Birks.

Best answer: Only buy impulsive if it is worth (that is, sticks to her finger, pleases heart)! Whiteflash.com sends to Europe with no problems. Congratulations.

We had our wedding bands made by a local goldsmith named Leif Benner, who has a small shop in the Distillery District (an historic part of Toronto, now renovated and tourist-friendly). I can't say enough nice things about his work, which is completely custom -- he first spoke to us about our taste, made sketches, then moulds, then the actual rings.

Certainly too short a time-frame to have them made within your 7-day visit, but if you liked the idea, you could contact him in advance to get quotes, discuss your ideas, and then start the process before arriving.

His website shows some examples, but what he made for us was incredibly simple, classy, and reasonably priced.
