I want to do the fingerwave

Is there someplace in the Seattle area where I could go to be taught how to do some retro hairstylings like fingerwaves?

I have naturally wavy hair that goes into a sort of flapper-esque fingerwave all by itself but I would like to encourage it to REALLY do it. I have tried doing this at home after reading up on it and I am just not getting it right. I think I need to be talked through it. I am also interested in other retro hairstyling tips. I have so far been unsatisfied with what I have found on Youtube.

Hmm. Go to a salon and ask the kid sweeping floors -- s/he very likely just took the exam to get a hairdresser's license, so it'll be top-of-mind. According to my brother's boyfriend, fingerwaves are still a mandatory part of the training, at least here in California.

Best videos I've ever seen is this one from a naturallycurly.com member.

I knew about this vintage hairstyle resource prior to it being featured on Whoorl's Hair Thursday - but there it was, along with a few other links recently. There'll also be quite a few postings with advice and images in the Beauty Forums over at The Fedora Lounge.
