Help me remember an African movie.

Vague Movie Recollection filter: All I remember is this is a movie from the late 60's, set in Africa. One key scene is a bad guy wearing a stolen watch with a builtin alarm starts a stampede (of elephants?) when the wrist watch alarm goes off. Said bad guy ends up crushed in a bush. The alarm watch touch suggests it's set in modern times. Help me, Mefites!

Reminds me of one of those intros that they play before movies at certain theaters to encourage people to turn their cellphones off. It wasn't one of those, was it?

Was it Zulu? Appararently there was a Zulu Dawn also. I also found this list of films set in Africa, if that helps.

The alarm watch touch suggests it's set in modern times.

Re: "Modern times," repeating wrist watches were available from the 1890's onward, so if the alarm went "ding" rather than "beep," your timeframe is a bit broader.

Response by poster: I'll add Zulu and Hatari! to my Netflix Queue and see. It seems possible. It's not Zulu Dawn. Thanks for the pointers.
