Where can I find a figure for the percentage of blogs that are actively maintained?

While I know there can only ever be a woolly answer to this question, can anyone point to state-of-the-web information detailing how many blogs are actively maintained, and what percentage of blogs that is?
Technorati's 'state of the blogosphere/liveweb' only tracks how the blogosphere expands, and ignores details about one-post wonders. An interesting look at the half-life of livejournal sites is here and makes me realise decay is the most realistic perspective on understanding the life/death cycle of sites. But even a simple 'poll of 1000 sites, 50% were not updated in the last year' result would be useful.
