¿Donde está la musica?

Is there a Pitchfork-esque website for rock en español, or Latin American music in general?

I've found Pitchfork to be, reviews aside, a good place to be exposed to new music (see the band or musician name, decide if it seems interesting, go check it out). It's been getting harder for me to find out what's new in Spanish-language music, which is a bummer for me as a rock en español fan.

I've found rockero.com so far, which is okay, but was hoping to find something more comprehensive.

you'll do better with mp3 blogs than review sites.

check out la onda tropical or muy bastard, for starters...

Rockero is a good general resource for profiles, and news. No reviews however.

Damn preview. I was going to say I usually check allmusic for bands within similar genres or with common bandmembers. Spanish music sites devote much of their space to reggaeton, salsa, or norteño music, so it can be difficult to suss out new bands. You might do better offering up bands you like in the hopes of getting recommendations. I'll be watching this space nonetheless, as I've been looking for the same resources.

I'm not necessarily looking for reviews, but more a spot that talks about the scene itself, so that I can keep an eye out for new names. Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Good point! Finding new reggaeton and salsa acts, or new material from established ones, is easy (for the reasons lilnemo mentioned). I'm looking for stuff akin to Zurdok, Plastilina Mosh, Kinky, Los Amigos Invisibles, Enrique Bunbury, Babasonicos, and Julieta Venegas, for example.

Thanks, lilnemo. A lot of those bands recommended in those posts are ones that I know well. The challenge for me is staying on top of everything new as it comes out!
