Does anyone know of a free alternative for the font "Minion"?

It looks like this

I'm working on a project for school and I'd really like to use a similar font...

My google-fu turns up nothing...

Don't know of one off the top of my head, but I suggest hunting around the serif category at dafont you're bound to find something similar enough.

Also, when you browse on dafont, it's helpful to use the custom preview option, in your case, typing in Washington University in St Louis yields some similar fonts.

The text on top isn't minion... its some kind of mutilated compressed goudy oldstyle.

Note that Minion is/was a free font with Adobe Reader installs.

I just checked my Reader 8.0 install, the family is in there.

if you google "minion.ttf" you find a lot of open ftps that have it, probably not legal but if it's installed by acrobat reader I'm sure it's really not a big deal.
