I'm in Chicago alone and bored tomorrow Saturday April 5th looking for interesting galleries, showings, art exhibits, etc. What would you recommend? Near an el is a + :)

Looking for something outside the usual touristy museums or stops.

Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, followed by a meal at Earwax.

Directions on how to get there on the Earwax link (scroll down) and on the "Visit Us" page of the UIMA, which currently has an exhibit called "Meditation of Weapons." Also do a Google on Wicker Park Art Chicago for other galleries in the area.

I know this is obvious but do consider the art institute. jasper johns, mark rothko, american gothic... there is a lot of great stuff to be seen. nearby is northerly island, the old meigs field airport, where you can walk around and look at the city, too. worth a trip.
