Help me find an honest, reliable person to come to my apartment and iron my clothes. I'm in Manhattan, Upper East.

I have a dream:
This nice lady comes to my apartment, sets up the ironing board and irons away everything from t-shirts to bed sheets. She's honest enough that I can leave her alone in the apartment and cheap enough that I can have her every week. And wrinkles are her worst enemy.

Any recommendations? How much do (did) you pay? Worth it? No more wrinkles on your shirts, ever ever?

Not to be overly snarky, but isn't this what Laundry pickup is for? Walk around your neighborhood and find a laundromat you like and see if they have pickup/delivery service. I'm sure lots do on the UES. They'll even wash your stuff for you before they iron it.

Yeah. As I said though, I want someone to come to my apartment and iron the clothes I have previously washed myself. That's just how I am. I'm sure all the "cleaning/ironing in your home" signs around the neighborhood are about that, I just thought I'd be on the safe side and ask for recommendations before I let them in my house.

Why not just hire a housekeeper and specify ironing as one of their duties? Not only will you have non-wrinkly clothes and sheets, but also a clean bathroom, vacuumed carpets, mopped floors, washed dishes, washed and folded laundry, etc.

I pay $60 for my large one-bedroom, but YMMV because I don't have her do the kind of ironing you're talking about. A few shirts on occasion, but that's it.

It is very, very worth it.

I can't speak for New York, but Canadian journalist Jan Wong went undercover as a housecleaner and estimated that having a housecleaner do your ironing works out to $1.25 per item. You might use this as a benchmark, if laundry drop-off, pick-up or a housecleaner are options.

I will try Craigslist. I will also call the people that advertise in the building. The thing is, I wish I had more reliable references than those they give you themselves...
