How do I promote a pseudonymous blog?
I have a blog. I don't want it associated with me by any casual observer. Problem is, I also want people to read it.
Normally, I'd tell my friends to check out my blog, call in favors with other folks to pimp it, and it might spread. Obviously not going to work here.
So, how can I possibly promote it?
I already have it listed in technorati.

Response by poster: I guess I should mention that my blog contains a fair amount of unsavory content. I fail posting guidelines for many mainstream social aggregation sites and uber-blogs.

There are ten million bloggers all of whom want what you want. Nitsuj's advice is good, but you also need to tune your expectations down. Read this, because it shows why, when it comes to blogging, nearly everyone's traffic is way below average.
(Excessively aggressive promotion of one's own blog in comments of other blogs is known as "link-whoring". Don't do that.)

The best you can do is write things that are unique as part of the subject matter you want to talk about that might come up under searches and that will then attract people to read regularly and to link to it. Link-whoring is frowned upon, and remember this wisdom from Merlin Mann...
"FYI. Every time you link to your own site in a blog comment, I make your Grandparents clean Jimi Hendrix's bathroom." -- God (Heaven, 2008)"

If I were you, I would comment a lot on blogs that are similar to your own. That way, you can build a rapport with others who write about the same subject, and they will likely link to your blog. The more unsavory the subject, the more close-knit and accepting community of bloggers (or so it seems to me).

I wouldn't try "submitting" things to social bookmarking or social news sites unless you're a regular contributing member of the site who understands it well. They aren't for link-whoring.
Anyway, there are whole communities about this kind of thing: ProBlogger, Performancing, etc. - just do a web search for "blog promotion". Some of that advice is shady and too focused on Adsense revenue, but you can get a sense of the usual practices by reading them.

Link to blogs and posts from other sites that you like, especially if you have similar content or style. Others will find you in their blog stats, visit out of curiosity and then continue visiting if they like your blog.

When I see an exceptional comment, I visit the commenter's blog.
