Help me identify a photographic archive in Paris

About a year ago I read an article about a not particularly well known photographic archive in Paris. The very large collection has quite a strong ethnographic leaning and is based in the large house and gardens of a deceased philanthropist, who I think the archive was named after, but I'm not certain. I also think I remember the article saying that the collection was not in central Paris. Any ideas?
